Recharging points in the city is of little importance. We shouldn't be commuting long distances in cars, we should be using public transport for this. Widespread car commuting is always going to a disaster for our cities purely on the amount of area cars take up. All the great cities of the world are great because they are not car dominated; they aren't full of motorways, carparks and cars.
For those who insist on driving their cars into cities, a 50km round trip is easily accomplished by almost any electric car, without having to charge up in town. If you are commuting longer than 50km you should move closer to your job or move your job closer to your home
What cars are really great for is to get out of the cities and what we really need are fast charging service stations at service stations spaced 100km along roads.
